It’s hard to believe that the 2017 gravity race season is coming to a close. The ESC Enduro season wrapped up just a few weeks ago at Killington, VT and this weekend, long time regional and national event host, Mount Snow, will provide the championship course to crown the 2017 Eastern States Cup Champions. Central Maine Cycling Club powered by Mathieu’s Cycle has three racers that are contending for podium spots in their classes.
Alex Deditch has had a fantastic 2017 season and currently sits in second place in the series points for the Cat 2/3 15-18 Men’s class. This extremely competitive class is a tight points battle. A clean run can move riders up and down in the week to week points chase, and with the final race worth double points, this class could show the most movement. Alex, our youngest racer, has been working really hard and is ready to face a tough finals course.
Mark Schnepel is locked in a brutal battle in the Men’s Cat 1 40-49 class. After 8 races the top 3 places will ultimately be decided by the finish of this last race. Mark is in the top spot going into the finals. This is a tough class with talented riders that seldom make big mistakes. Mark has been super consistent with rocket fast times. Mark is currently ranked 8th in the country by USA Cycling in his class.
Dave Richard is holding on to second in the Cat 2/3 40-49 men’s class. 1st place in the class is virtually locked up leaving a battle for second and third. Double points will really make the whole season come down to one last run. Dave is currently ranked 10th in the country by USA Cycling in his class.
John McCann will also make another appearance for the CMCC team. John formally raced for the Avalanche Pro Downhill team. John represented CMCC well at Mt Attitash with a second place podium finish. We’re hoping we can convince John to race a full schedule in 2018 and continue to share his year of riding and racing knowledge and skills.
Jackson (Sam) Kinney will be making his debut for CMCC powered by Mathieu’s Cycle at Mount Snow. Sam has signed on for the 2018 season and honestly, we were just too excited to wait. Sam will be flying our colors at the finals! Sam will be competing in the 19-29 Cat 2/3 Men’s class. We hoping for big things from Sam both on and off the course.
It’s been a great season! Our riders have had great results, and have represented us well. We are proud to support this dedicated group. We will be announcing even more riders to join our team soon.
